The Ohio State-M*ch*g*n game this past Saturday was perhaps one of the best games in the undoubtedly best rivalry in college sports. And it felt good Sunday to know that my reasoning was sound when M*ch*g*n did not drop in the BCS standings-why should they, they're still better than any team in the polls below them. I was a wreck of course, but I was also so excited because again, under Coach Tressel (and lots of prayers from us faithful), the Buckeyes are on their way to Arizona yet again. The big difference this time is that I live here now AND if I can't get tickets I will not fret because I work at the stadium that hosts the Cardinals football games so I will be there anyway.
I started out as a supervisor for the ticket scanners, just inside gate 3. However, being a Buckeye Alum, I missed the Cardinals-Lambs...I mean Rams game on September 24th...why because I was at the Shoe watching Ohio State beat Penn State in the rain. I was wet, but I didn't care...it was a 'Sea of Scarlet' and I was extremely proud to be a part of it. When I got back to Arizona and the stadium, I had discovered that I was now the supervisor of the physical inspection team members outside at Gate 3...hmmm.
I grumbled about being outside (It's not too bad in the later months though...thank goodness). Then I worked inside for the Rolling Stones concert (which was awesome) and so now I don't complain about working outside anymore. I actually prefer it. Working inside was actually pretty cool, especially during the concert but it was very loud and as a supervisor you have to cover a larger area than just one gate and it can get kind-of hectic. I'm not adverse to hectic, but I prefer the calm and being able to look a guest in the eye when I tell them to enjoy the game or be careful on the way home.
Anyhoooo...I already put in to work inside for the BCS Championship game (unless I can get my hands on two tickets) I'm otherwise unemployed and will take ticket donations too...even in the cheap seats since there are no really bad seats in The University of Phoenix stadium.
Hopefully I will get my wish and I think I will have one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had.
GO BUCKEYES!!!
