Ohio State-Michigan: Truth or Hype?--Yea, right!!!
I just read an article by Bruce Hooley, for ESPN, that's a bunch of HOOEY!!! After covering the big ten for 19 years, how could he possibly question this annual clash of Big Ten Titans? Give me a break, I mean, this has been voted the biggest rivalry in college football. This game is about bragging rights.
I live in Arizona and I have a big Ohio State magnet stuck to the back of my truck and I get accosted (nicely not rudely) in pariing lots by Michigan fans telling me that they wonder how excited I'll be about Ohio State after Nov 18th. I always so, I'll be great, but you'll be crying. This always elicits a chuckle and a have a nice day, or the like.
Now, back to the gist of this blog...this Hooey guy is full of crap. He thinks that the Ohio State and Michigan game is all hype because most teams in the Big Ten sucks and we haven't played anyone since Ohio State obiliterated Texas and Michigan did the same to Notre Dame. He states that since neither team has lost a game since playing us that we need to check ourselves, especially after our lackluster performances against Illinois (who will be good next year and probably damn good in two) and Michigans equally crappy performance against Ball State that this whole thing is hype, not truth.
Hmmm, let's see, Texas. They've played the same number of ranked teams that we have after we schooled them in their own house. They play teams like Rice, Iowa State, Sam Houston and Baylor, all who I am sure our so called Big Ten rejects could beat easily. And Notre Dame...hmmmm. They played only two ranked teams this year too. They play teams like Michigan State (I don't even want to go there), Stanford, UCLA, Navy, North Carolina and Air Force...I mean come on.
So before this Hooey guys starts hating on the Buckeyes and Wolverines (yes, even I can't believe that I am defending Michigan and doing it without a grimace too...I must be getting old or something), he should check the facts on the other two teams who's names he's tossing about, check their records, the same as I did, and go watch Sports Center or something instead of writing stupid articles like this one.
I can't ever remember a time when Ohio State and Michican have met, each with a spotless record. I can recall plenty of times when they've played each other, one with national championship hopes and one not, and the toilet, or some other non BCS bowl, team ended up beating the other team thus dashing their hopes of a National Championship. There is no hype...it's nothing but the TRUTH that the Ohio State-Michigan game is big every single year it's played and it's at its biggest this year....Don't hate, appreciate.
